Joe Danger returns to the App Store after letter from parents of autistic child

A video game developer studio has given a real lesson on what it means to listen to the customer. Several years after its departure from the App Store, Hello Games has decided to bring back the popular game Joe Dangermotivated by the request of the father of an autistic child.

As the creator of the study has shared on his Twitter account, the father of an 8-year-old boy named Jack, requested through a letter the return of the game compatible with the latest versions of iOS, because it has “allowed Jack to experience ‘normal kid stuff'”.

Joe Danger returns thanks to a peculiar request

Joe Danger left the App Store in 2017, due to the end of support for 32-bit games in iOS 11, and the switch to 64-bit applications. At the time, he concentrated on his other hit “No Man’s Sky”, discarding updates to his classic racing game.

In the letter shared by Hello Games Jack’s father says that losing him to an iOS update and not having a new version is a problem.

“Since children with autism have a hard time with the switch, any other version just won’t work. The App Store, I have to admit rather casually, suggests ‘contact developer’ to update the app to make it work, as if that’s something that was done every day…But Jack asked me to do it for him, so here I am.”

The boy’s father’s bet went as far as he intended and the game has been remastered with improved visuals, high frame rate, ProMotion and Gamepad compatibility. from now on available in the App Store for 1.99 euros.
